Apartment 11, Fabrique Fantastique adapt Elise Gravel’s Olga graphic novels
French-Canadian author-illustrator Elise Gravel’s Olga
Kids and family prodcos Fabrique Fantastique and Apartment 11 Productions have teamed up to coproduce an animated series adaptation of French-Canadian author-illustrator Elise Gravel’s Olga graphic novels.
Fabrique Fantastique, based in Flemish Belgium, and Apartment 11 in Montreal will adapt the books into a 2D animated 52×11’ series for six-to nine-year-olds.
The series follows 11-year-old Olga, a quirky young scientist who discovers a strange alien creature. As she tries to learn everything about the creature, her curiosity about people and social interactions begins to grow. Along the way, she learns important life lessons, makes new friends and takes bold steps outside her comfort zone.
Gravel has written three books in the Olga series: Olga & the Smelly Thing from Nowhere, Olga: We’re Out of Here! and Olga: Out of Control!
Lienne Sawatsky is scriptwriting the adaptation and Sarah Menheere is directing. Fabrique Fantastique and Apartment 11 will pitch the series to buyers and potential partners at Cartoon Forum in Toulouse next week.
