About Apartment 11

Apartment 11 Productions is best known for long running, live action television series including: Prank Patrol, for YTV, Canada, one of the first kids’ series to be formatted, it has also run multiple seasons in the U.K. and Australia; In Real Life, a reality competition series for YTV, nominated for an International Emmy; Mystery Hunters, broadcast on Discovery channels around the globe, syndicated in the U.S. and formatted in Asia; Surprise! It’s Edible! Incredible!, a cooking game show for kids for CBC and Finding Stuff Out, a fun science series for TVO.

In addition to programs for kids and families, Apartment 11 also develops and produces series for the 18 to 54 demographic, most notably the docusoap Way Off Broadway, for Bravo/CTV Canada, which follows 22 amateurs putting on a Broadway-style production.

Apartment 11 develops innovative interactive digital media, including, companion websites for TV properties, games, apps and an e-zine and works with top digital producers to bring these projects to fruition. Notable among these is Cross Country Fun Hunt for CBC, a multifaceted project that begins on the web and then moves to television. It won the 2012 Youth Media Alliance Awards for Best Television Program in Any Genre and Best Convergent Website.

Established in 2000 by Jonathan Finkelstein, Montreal based Apartment 11 has produced more than 400 half-hours of television. Its many awards include a Peabody Award, three Japan Prizes, multiple Geminis (Canada’s top television awards) and The Viewers’ Choice Kidscreen Award. Additionally, Apartment 11 shows have been nominated for an International Emmy and a Prix Jeunesse International.
